Lee Jong Won and Weki Meki's Kim Do Yeon to reportedly be the next K-drama couple!

Lee Jong Won and Kim Do Yeon will reportedly lead a new romance K-drama penned by Doona!'s writer.

On July 18, media outlet My Daily shared an exclusive report revealing that Lee Jong Won and Kim Do Yeon will be the main leads for the upcoming romance K-drama Praying for the Moonflower. According to reports, the K-drama is set to begin filming soon. 

Lee Jong Won and Kim Do Yeon's representatives have not responded to the casting reports yet. 

Praying for the Moonflower will tell the story of a woman who makes swords in a prisoner of war camp and a general from the enemy country who has defected. The two are drawn to each other as their fates overlap. 

The upcoming K-drama will be the joint work of director Jang Young Woo (Queen of Tears, Sweet Home, and Mr. Sunshine) and writer Jang Yoo Ha (Doona!). 

Details about the K-drama's broadcasting channel and premiere date remain unconfirmed.

 Lee Jong Won is set to play Baek Je Hui, Gaero-guk's greatest warrior. Despite inheriting his mother's beauty, he is troubled by her murderous look, which reflects his ruthless nature. He is ruthless, with no sympathy or mercy, and he does not keep anyone by his side.

This K-drama will possibly be Lee Jong Won's follow-up project after the 2024 series Brewing Love. The actor is also set to return to the big screen with the upcoming film A Place to Kill. He will work alongside Kim Hye Yoon and Jang Da A in the thriller horror movie. 

Kim Do Yeon is reportedly cast as Yang Cho Seol in the K-drama, a famous sword maker. Her elegant behavior and dignified presence, combined with eyes full of fierce determination, ensure that even the bad guys cannot do anything to her.

This K-drama will also possibly be Kim Do Yeon's follow-up work after her 2025 K-drama Heesu in Class 2. If confirmed, this would be her first official lead role in a K-drama, separate from her web series work.
