Kang Ha Neul, Yeom Hye Ran & Seo Hyeon Woo share why they chose Netflix K-Movie ‘Wall to Wall’

Wall to Wall follows Woo Sung (Kang Ha Neul), an ordinary salaried employee who manages to purchase his own home — an 84-square-meter apartment — only to be tormented by a mysterious noise between the floors.
Director Kim explained the meaning behind the Korean title, saying, "84 Square Meters is the standard apartment size in Korea and is a term used only in our country. I chose it as the title because I believe it's a number that represents apartment culture [here]."
He also shared the story behind the film, saying, "Since working on my previous project, I've experienced noise between floors and was angered at my upstairs neighbors. I wondered if this was happening to inspire me, so I tried to channel it into my work, and happened to plan this project."
Yeom Hye Ran shared her reason for joining the project, saying, "Director Kim Tae Joon's previous work also had a realistic scenario, and it was more gripping than any other thriller. I wanted to do this because it felt like a story that resonates with all of us. The character was also different from the roles I've played so far, so I wanted to take on the challenge."
Seo Hyeon Woo commented, "When I was given the script, I was experiencing noise between floors myself, so I could really relate. The issue of noise between floors is tough not only for those who suffer from it but also for those who, inevitably, end up causing it. It's a story that resonated with me on many levels, so I found it an interesting read."
Kang Ha Neul plays the lead Woo Sung. Introducing his character, Kang said, "Woo Sung is a character whose bittersweet feelings come to the forefront first. He works hard to get by, scraping together everything — from his mortgage loan to his severance pay, mother's land — to buy an apartment." He added, "Afterwards, he gradually becomes worn down by the noise between floors." "I, too, became exhausted while shooting this project."
The actor also spoke about how he shaped his character, saying, "Woo Sung becomes increasingly sensitive because of the noise between floors. I had many discussions with the director to portray how people go to extremes due to stress."
Yeom Hye Ran plays Eun Hwa, the resident representative. Introducing her character, she said, "Eun Hwa is a type of power figure you don't often come across." "She's a former prosecutor who knows her way around the law. And she understands how capitalism and law work and has accumulated wealth."

Seo Hyeon Woo plays Jin Ho, the upstairs neighbor who searches for the source of the noise. He remarked, "On the outside, he appears intimidating, but at the same time, he's a very empathetic character. He feels a sense of empathy and pity toward Woo Sung and becomes passionate about helping him uncover the source of the noise between floors."
Talking about the physical transformation he underwent, the actor said, "It was a challenging character to portray. The director didn't want a totally sculpted body but rather the physique of a fighter who's been through a lot. I also trained extensively to deliver impactful action scenes."
The cast also talked about the vibe on set. Kang Ha Neul said, "The shoot was demanding because of how detailed it was," but "It was a set where I learned just how much detailed shots can change a lot of things."

They also shared fun behind-the-scenes stories about how each character's space was designed differently. Yeom Hye Ran recalled, "Eun Hwa's home had many expensive items, so the art team was quite nervous [the whole time]. There were luxury goods, and some props were worth ten million won," as she looked back on the experience.
On the other hand, Kang Ha Neul shared with a laugh, "My character's home was the complete opposite. When I asked if I could move the props around, they told me to do as I please — even said it was fine to throw things."
Seo Hyeon Woo agreed, adding, "It was nice because during breaks, I could just lie down on the bed or the sofa right away," sharing a laugh with Kang Ha Neul.
